Our Mission

Heroes United to Heal is dedicated to ending “Hero Suicide”. Tragically, suicide is the leading cause of death in both our veteran and first responder communities. We plan to put an end to this epidemic by educating veterans, first responders, leaderships, families and the public about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Injury (PTSD/I) and erasing the stigma attached to it. Funds raised will be used to accomplish this goal in addition to helping heroes in need of financial assistance by supplementing the cost of various resources proven to be effective but are not covered by the VA or many health insurance carriers.

Many often ask…

“Why are so many affected than before?”

Times Have Changed

HU2H’s Vision

As Veterans and First Responders, we overcome so much together on the job.

Then the memories begin.

Sometimes sooner, sometimes later, everyone is different. That's the frustrating thing about PTSD/I, it sneaks up on you when you least expect it. And NO, we are not weak. We are not thin-skinned. We are Warriors. Every human being has a breaking point. We can erase the stigma and overcome this Together!

Sadly, many heroes choose to live in denial and self-medicate with alcohol, or sleep. Whatever gets them by.

Some outlets might bring temporary relief for the moment, but we know these outlets aren't healthy. They take a toll on our relationships and often lead to bad decisions which can have devastating consequences.

Before we know it, we are losing ourselves, our loved ones and falling down the rabbit hole where the demons get the best of us.

Our battles don't end when the calls are over or after we get home, many live on in our heads… leaving us with so many unanswered questions.

If we would never go into battle alone, why would we feel the need or be expected to face the aftermaths alone?

Together, we can fight the demons that come with our bad memories.

How do we do that? For starters, Buddy Check! Call one another, check on each other, pay attention and listen.

If you notice something different about a brother or sister... ASK THEM what is going on. Just knowing you care enough to ask goes a long way.

Get familiar with the resources.

There are many available for those who battle PTSD OUTSIDE of the workplace. Most veterans and first responders do not trust their employers, agencies or units to do the right thing, even if some will.

Trust is a big problem, so find other alternatives sooner rather than later.

Whether for yourself or someone important in your life, this is worth it.
